Keto Snack Ideas

By Keto Katz, A Keto Bakery Near You 😻

Hi Keto Katz Kitties, it’s Lisa here! “What are good keto snack foods?” is something I get asked daily, so I made this quick FB live video to go over what I had in my house at that moment that would be appropriate for keto snacking. It’s all gluten free and low carb as well- which makes these ideas great for those on a gluten free diet, diabetic or low carb food plan. Click on the video below to watch it so you can get a visual of the brands and hear me go through the macros of each item. I also talk about why I like the brands that I choose over competitor options. Scroll down to download your free snack idea handout with brand names and where to purchase!

Keto Snack Attacks

Keeping keto-approved snacks on hand can mean the different between staying true to the plan vs. falling off the wagon. I know that’s a wee bit dramatic since we’re just talking about snacks here, lol, but have you ever followed any diet and found that the nagging hunger between meals is enough to make you eat anything in sight?! My patients tell me this ALL of the time, especially the cravings that can blindside you between lunch and dinner. Well, you can totally prevent this situation by being prepared.

How to be ready for anything:

  • Carry keto snacks with you in the car, keep them at work, stash in your purse or man-bag. Nuts, pre-bagged olives and meat sticks are great options that won’t go bad without refrigeration.

  • Keep the house stocked with snack possibilities- both fresh and packaged (download the handout below for ideas). Eat through the fresh options first (veggies and dip) and then turn to shelf-stable items when groceries dwindle.

  • Order foods from Amazon, Thrive Market or Netrition so you have backup supply and variety in your daily routine. Sometimes you find a great deal on these sites and often you find new foods to keep life interesting. Just be aware of funky ingredients that are unhealthy and might knock you out of ketosis.

Easy & Fast Keto Snack Ideas, Summarized:

  1. Olives

  2. Meaty types of bars or snacks

  3. Eggs- deviled, boiled, salad, etc.

  4. Cheese cubes

  5. Keto yogurts- be sure to add fat to stay fuller longer (examples in handout below)

  6. Nuts- plain, seasoned, nut butter (just be sure no sugar is added)

  7. Veggies & dip

  8. Avocado with toppings

  9. Bone broth

  10. Collagen smoothie with a fat source to stay fuller longer (try not to depend on whey smoothies too much, that much dairy protein tends to inflame some people)

  11. Keto chocolates or ice cream like Rebel brand

Your last tip from me…

Keto Snack + Keto Snack = Keto Meal

This means that if you keep enough keto snacks on hand, you can eat a few of them together and have a super fast meal! A lot of people complain they don’t know what to make or don’t have time to cook a meal- BULLSH*T! You could have a few deviled eggs with veggies and dip and that’s a meal, friends. And that’s all I have to say on this topic.
